Primary Health Care Project
Ministering Love And Hope To The Poor
Purpose: Located on the outskirts of Nairobi, capital of Kenya, the
Soweto/Kayole slums are a cluster of villages that ranks among the worst in
the world. There are poor water and sanitation conditions and residents
live in huts made from mud and tree branches, corrugated iron, or small
stone houses. Large families are forced to live in very confined areas,
often with up to 12 people per room, leading to a poor health environment.
Communicable diseases, malaria and intestinal problems are rampant as is
malnutrition.
Most of these conditions are easily remedied by simple health
procedures and preventive health care education that the clinic supplies.
This is the only health care clinic in a community of more than 52,000
people. As with all African Enterprise ministries, the Soweto/Kayole Primary
Health Care Clinic exists as a witness to the love of Jesus Christ. Workers
in the clinic freely share the Gospel with patients who exhibit spiritual as
well as physical needs.
