Rwanda Evangelism Department Issues May Report
Tuesday, June 14, 2005 African Enterprise 1.0: Introduction:
In addition to our regular activities we managed to carry out two big events: Butare Mission and Global week of prayer. Here is a list of other activities carried out during the month: prayer crusade, preparation of teaching manual, radio emissions, top leaders prayer breakfast, healing and reconciliation workshops, visit to prison, top leaders. We were very blessed to host a team known as Rwanda Partners from USA, whose involvement in some of the activities left a remarkable consideration by both AEE team and the people ministered to.
1.1: Global prayer day:

This was an international event where people in different nations committed themselves to pray for transformation of their nations, continents and the entire world. The theme comes from Habakkuk 2:13: From 6th -15th /May there were groups of intercessors all over Rwandan territory busy praying about the above mentioned. In Kigali city, intercessors from different denominations agreed to share the days of the week so that each day should be prayed for. AEE facilitated a central prayer chain of volunteers who could come at AEE in turns to supplement those in churches. Each turn had a group
of 10 or so who could pray with fasting for 3 days. On 15th /May all the churches in the city met together at a regional stadium for the closing prayer crusade in which about 5000 people attended. The preacher of the day was Apostle Masasu Joshua who gave a message embodied in these two points: God answers and He will act Himself. He tried to elaborate all the wonders and miracles God has performed among Rwandeses, and he went on to assure the audience that all His promises yet to come will be accomplished. There was a time of joy listening to that message, to the singing group from the Pentecostal church ; and raising voices together to seek God's favor upon the nation, the Big lakes region, the African continent and worldwide.
1.2: Prayer crusade:
The prayer crusade was held on May 7th. About 30 people attended and most of their time there was consecrated on Global prayer day. The participants were made aware of what was going on, and asked to fully participate in the event especially on the closing day 15th/May/2005.
1.3: Radio emissions:
The talks targeted Gacaca implementation process. As this was the month in which Pentecostal day was celebrated, most of the message associated Gacaca principles with the work of the Holy Spirit. At many points, the speaker urged all people to allow the Holy Spirit to touch their lives so that the offenders may be able to repent and ask for forgiveness, and the offended encouraged to forgive those who did them wrong. In all this he specified that no one can take any of those positive measures without the prompting of the Holy Spirit who alone can fully convict people of their sins.
1.4: Butare Mission, and Ntsinda prison visitation:

The Rwanda Partners team were 15 in number. They did visit different places but here we are mentioning Ntsinda prison in Rwamagana and Butare Mission. Ntsinda prison has about 13.000 prisoners, and when this team reached there with AEE team; about 5000 attended the evangelistic meeting. The two teams worked hand in hand to minister to them. The team leader of AEE gave an introduction in which he told them that God is intending to do something new in our nation. He encouraged them to confess their sins not just for their release, but in obedience to God's word. One pastor from the hosted team did bring them a word of comfort where he said that God always gives a second chance. In that he assured them that however much you may have sinned, God is ready to accept and use anyone turning back to Him. Two other people from the latter team gave testimonies about how God intervened in their lives which were miserably lousy, and restored them with better norms. Rwanda Partners issued 100 Kinyarwanda Bibles in Ntsinda Prison in Kibungo province and the same number
in Karubanda prison in Butare province. These will help a great deal as most of the prisoners wish to read the word of God, but only a few can manage to buy themselves Bibles. As for Butare Mission, the two teams did the following activities: training church leaders, ministering in churches, schools and prison. The training was on Friday and Saturday from 9:00am-12:30pm. The main topic tackled was discipleship. The evenings of Friday-Sunday were for evangelistic crusades, and Sunday morning about 10 churches were ministered to. The teams managed to visit 2 schools: one on Saturday afternoon and another on Sunday morning. The people appreciated the message brought them, and hopefully their lives have been impacted
1.5: Healing and Reconciliation workshops:
The local teams enthusiastically keep on with healing and reconciliation workshops in which they are now targeting Gacaca. As a reminder we have 12 provinces each of which has what we call a local team; a small group of volunteers who after having been helped to process their healing; felt the burden to reach out to their neighbors with the same message that changed their lives. Each team is supposed to organize and run one activity per term.
Testimony: A man in Bugesera confessed to a lady who was also in the seminar. This is what he said: I am asking Mukandori Odette to forgive me because I ransacked her property and I was in the group that killed her husband. When the lady heard these words, she had a serious shock, but eventually managed to forgive him saying: " I personally forgive you, but you must also come to confess to other members of my family."
1.6: Preparation of healing and reconciliation teaching manual:
Having realized the incompatibility of the teachings with the new target group, AEE healing and reconciliation team decided to work on the booklet they have been using to make some amendments. They produced a new module in which some topics have been fused together, while others have been dropped out. A teaching manual draft is in place waiting final touches and printing. With this, there is hope for better application of the teachings to the people in question.
1.7: What you can pray for:
- AEE team as they are making preparations for the first intake of Ministry Development institute;
-
The Gacaca process as the authorities keep on urging the population to facilitate its action by revealing all the facts;
-
Top leaders' prayer breakfast due on June 12th.
