Malawi Line-up Missions
Thursday, July 07, 2005 African Enterprise WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR
The Word.
From the beginning of this year, African Enterprise Malawi has been busy preaching the word. So far we concentrated on the areas that we don’t normally visit. Universities and Colleges has been our main target for the 1st half of this year. We have seen many students coming to the Lord in a miraculous way.
Again we also focused at the youth in general. Every year we are taking over 120 young leaders to the lake where we train and equip them for ministry. As a result, we have seen great changes and also we have heard great testimonies from churches. These youths are having different programmes, which are set to reaching out to their fellow youths.
Meeting and Mobilizing pastors have been another assignment on our calendar. So far we have been able to reach-out to local churches in Lilongwe, Salima and Nkhota-kota. Our aim is that we may train these local pastors into planning and conducting evangelistic campaign on their own.
The Deed.
On the part of the project, Adult literacy classes remains to be a vibrant tool in training the adults who didn’t have an opportunity of attending school. Every year we do witness student graduating from these humble schools. Providing pure and safe water is another project that AE Malawi has embarked on. You may recall that in 2002 and 2003 we experienced a terrible out break of Cholera, which claimed a lot of lives. It is because of this reason that AE is not getting tired in drilling the drilling the boreholes. These boreholes are then entrusted to the specific villages so that they would take a good care on the borehole.
THE COMING MISSIONS
NTCHISI MISSION.
Ntchisi is one of the poorest and neglected districts in Malawi. Infact, during the reign of our fist president Dr Hestings Kamuzu Banda, it used to be called “Visanza,” which means “filthy rugs.” Ntchisi district is found on the central region of Malawi and the people are subsistent farmers. However at this point in time, we are not reaching out to the whole Ntchisi district but rather we are reaching out to a section of Ntchisi called Nthondo. Nthondo has approximately 3,000 households.
When you mention the Name Ntchisi/Nthondo, there are two things that people will quickly think about. The first one as I mentioned is “Poverty” and the second thing is “Witchcraft.” People are always afraid to visit this place incase they meet with, “what shaved the Guinea fowl.” This is a proverb in my language, which means something bad happening to you. Ntchisi has no tarmac roads and illiteracy rate is very high.
But this is a place that we feel the Lord is calling us to go at this point in time. The main mission is planned for 17th – 24th July 2005. Prior to the main mission we have counselors and discipleship training from 03rd and 7th July and then Evangelists seminar from 14th –16th July. Over 10 churches have rallied to work together in Ntchisi. So far two meetings with the pastors have taken place. June 17 will be a third planning meeting for the mission.
KARONGA MISSION.
When you look at the top of this web page, you will find the map of Malawi. Karonga is situated right on the top of the map. Karonga is the district that borders with Tanzania. It is a place where lost of business transactions does happen. Because of the money that circulates around this place, prostitution is very high. And because of the prostitution, HIV Aids is also very high in this district and as a result you will find lost of orphans in this district.
Pastors are very excited about the mission and there is a good response from the churches. The main mission is scheduled for 18th – 25th September. Over 15 churches are coming together and planning for this mission. Karonga has a hot climate but we thank God because this district is also at northern tip of Lake Malawi.
YOUTH RETREAT.
Again this year we are looking forward to take 120 young leaders to the lake for a retreat. The aim of these retreats is to train and equip these young leaders so that they may also be able to impact their fellow young people in their respective churches.
Prayer Items.
- Pray that the Lord will give us both districts.
- Pray that many souls will come to Christ during these evangelistic crusades.
- Pray for the proper follow-up after the mission.
- Pray that those affected and infected with HIV Aids will find hope and healing in Christ Jesus.
- Pray that the Lord will guide the set-up team as it makes some decisions.
Thank you, and God bless you. |
