September/October Report from Ghana

Report filed by:
Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku
Teamleader, Ghana

"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share" (1 Tim. 6:17-18)

Businessmen in our society constitute those who are rich. A chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) invited me to conduct seminar for them in the month on which I am reporting. This was followed by two church programmes. A week-long mission with a Presbyterian Church in Kumasi and a similar programme with a Baptist Church in Accra. I, however, took advantage to remind businessmen of the command of Paul.

1. FGBMFI - AIRPORT CHAPTER SEMINAR
The theme under which I was made to speak for three days was "Be Equipped To Propagate". By the end of the three days we had examined the issues involved in the need to be equipped (since we contend not against flesh and blood). We also looked at the different categories of sinners in the world today and therefore the need to approach each of them differently with the same gospel. We learnt the five great "Ps" of evangelism - Preparation, Purity, Prayer, Proclamation and Power. Testimonies given by participants who attended the seminar indicated that the Lord had richly blessed our time together.

2. BANTAMA PRESBY MISSION CONFERENCE
This was conducted under the theme "You have forgotten your first love" (Rev. 2:4). We looked at the theme of love as it operates in the environment of evangelism. Of the different kinds of love as the Greek present them to us - Eros, storge, Philia and Agape, it is the later that the Father demonstrates in securing our salvation. Same is expected of us to secure the salvation of others. This served as the point of presentation and discussion throughout the week.
A youth seminar the Saturday of the week under the theme "Empowering the Youth: The Panacea For The Growth Of The Church" , rounded up a very interesting week of mission.

3. ALL SOULS BAPTIST CHURCH GATHERING
This programme ran between September 26th to October 2nd. But I had to travel to Antananarivo for our Pan African Mission on the 29th of September. As a result I only spoke for two days under the theme "The Battle is the Lord's".
The intent is to seek the blessing of the Lord in order to thrust out with the gospel. My two days with the Church, I believe, was a blessings. I have not as yet had any feedback since my return from Tana.

4. STREET CHILDREN PROJECT
We have successfully concluded recruiting 100 street children who have all been engaged in the different vocations of their choice. The project Manager has already sent out separate preliminary report on this project. In subsequent days, he will follow that up with a more detailed report. We thank Australia office for sponsoring this project.

5. PRAISE AND PRAYER
- Praise God for open doors for ministry
- Praise God for our health. So far only three of us are handling everything in our office, but the mighty hand of the Lord is upholding us.
- Pray for our national mission this year which has been postponed due to obvious reasons
- Pray for our street children project.
