Melisachew was born into an orthodox Christian family in Injibara, Gojjam, Ethiopia. He came to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in 1966 as a young boy. In his university years he was actively involved in the Christian University Students Fellowship and served in different capacities. He also served the Lord in his local church in the board of elders, board of biblical education and other capacities.
Melisachew spent about 17 years in the Ministry of Planning and economic development working as economist, and in the latter 7 years as team leader and department head. He has taken an array of responsibilities in WV Ethiopia as Christian Witness and Church Relations Coordinator, Special assistant to the national director and stewardship manager. While in WV he also served as Christian Witness (CW) functional team leader for East Africa sub region in coordinating CW work in the sub region.
Melisachew accepted the heavenly calling to serve God in 1995. He served as an itinerant minister of the gospel as Bible teacher/preacher. Since this period he has traveled widely both in country and abroad for ministry. He also took part in many of the WV organized international prayer initiatives.
His calling is in leadership and teaching. He has also burden for the expansion of the Kingdom of God on earth, and training of spiritual leaders.
