Songe Chibambo
National Missions Director |
 |
Songe Chibambo comes from a family of nine children, whose father was a
school teacher. A priority in the home was attending Church.
At the age of 23 Songe surrendered his life to Christ. Before giving his
heart to the Lord, he led a loose life, looking for satisfaction where there
was none. He applied to study at a University but was not selected. The
selection was not based on merit but on the number required from each
district.
One thing Songe knew deep down in his heart was that God had called him
to serve Him and His children. The Lord gave Songe a compassionate heart.
Through his prayers and witnessing, his brothers, sisters and many close
relatives received the Lord into their lives.
At Lagos, Nigeria, he attended Bible College where he completed a three
year course in one year, only to find at the end of his training he was
unemployed. Songe put his spare time to good use - praying. He volunteered
to assist with the 1983 Blantyre Mission in Malawi being organized by
African Enterprise. He continued to work at the AE office for eight months
after the Mission doing follow-up work. In 1984, Michael Cassidy,
International Team Leader, and Malcolm Graham, the International
Administrative Director, visited Malawi, at which time they invited Songe to
join them in South Africa as an intern. Songe accepted and at the end of his
year training, he was invited by African Enterprise to join the team in
Malawi. His work involved setting up Missions not only in Malawi but in the
surrounding countries. He also preached at the Missions.
Near the end of 1991 Songe heard the Lord calling him to South Africa and
many incidents happened which served as confirmation. In 1992 he emigrated
to South Africa where he became involved in AE's mission preparation. In
addition to these responsibilities he participated in teaching and preaching
in parish missions, schools and colleges throughout the country and abroad.
In 1997 he became become AE's National Missions Director.
Songe enjoys talking to people of all ages about Jesus. His work at AE
involves setting up missions, teaching and preaching. God has given him the
gift of intercession. Songe¹s life is a miracle and he is grateful to God
for having chosen him.
