ABOUT US : Rev. Nigel Walker

Biography

Following a brief period of nearly eight years working in the City of London and serving briefly in the Royal Navy, Nigel began training for the Anglican pastoral ministry in 1963. After obtaining a diploma in theology he served for one year in Uganda managing a leprosy hospital there. In 1967 he served for in Portsmouth, United Kingdom and three years later, in 1970 went to Durban, South Africa as curate of an Anglican Church. While Nigel was there, he met and got to know Michael Cassidy and became involved in the preparations for Billy Graham's one day visit to Durban in 1974.

In 1976, Nigel moved to Abingdon (5 miles from Oxford) where he spent four years before moving to a parish near Liverpool where he spent a major part of his ministry.

In December 1993 he moved to Brussels, Belgium to begin what was his most significant ministry. Nigel was involved not only in the work of the Anglican church in Brussels, but also played a major part in the establishment of wider city ministry. In 2000, AE under the leadership of Michael Cassidy was invited to Brussels to conduct a mission there. The desire was simply to bring some of the new wine from Africa, back to Europe.

Shortly afterward, Nigel helped establish an AE Office in Brussels. Although now officially retired and back in the UK, Nigel travels regularly to Belgium to chair meetings and to preach in the local anglophone churches.

Nigel is married to Mary whom he met in Nairobi and they have three adult children.
