ABOUT US : Enoch Phiri

Biography

Enoch was the 7th child of 10. In his early childhood his family used to worship at the Baptist Church. When Enoch was 8 years old, his father and mother were divorced and the whole family stopped going to church and each went their own way.

In 1971 Enoch was invited by a friend to join a church choir at a Presbyterian Church in Blantyre, Malawi. Although he didn't like the idea of going to church, he joined the choir as it reminded him of his primary school choir. Enoch became the choirmaster and gave his life to Jesus in April 1974. Because of his transformation, members of his family were also transformed and his father and mother reconciled in 1989 and are still together.

Enoch became involved in the early revivals that swept across the city of Blantyre in the 70's and 80's. He became a church elder of the Zingwangwa Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (now called St James Church of Central Africa Presbyterian) and in time became the Session Clerk.

He received a calling to serve in Every Home Crusade where he served in a couple of positions and was instrumental in distributing Gospel literature house to house in thousands of homes and discipling new converts. He conducted evangelistic rallies across Malawi.

Later, Enoch joined World Vision International where among other positions, he served as Christian Witness Coordinator for twenty-two years. It was during his work with World Vision that he came into contact with AE during their "Blantyre for Jesus" campaign in 1983 since which time he was an associate AE evangelist. After leaving World Vision in 2004, Enoch served two years with Populations Services International where he worked as Faith-based Organizations Coordinator.

Enoch sadly, after 27 years of marriage, lost his dear wife Alice in March 2006 after a long battle with cancer. The Lord blessed them with six sons.
