ABOUT US : Stephen Lungu
Biography
Stephen developed a strong bitterness against God as he grew into a young man. In 1960 he became active in terrorism as a Communist against the Government of the then Southern Rhodesia. He learned the dreadful skills of sabotage, bombing and destruction.
On one such mission in 1962, Stephen and his gang plotted to blow up a bank when they came upon a large tent Gospel meeting with thousands of people. He and his fellow terrorists decided they would throw their bombs into the tent and shoot anyone who tried to escape. However, God had different plans.
Before he could throw his bombs, he heard the Gospel at this meeting. He became convicted of his sins and was gloriously converted at the very meeting he previously planned to bomb!
The day after his conversion, Stephen surrendered himself to the authorities and confessed his crimes. After eight hours of interrogation, he was released and given money by one of the policeman to buy his first Bible.
Shortly afterwards, God sent a white man into his life who took Stephen into his home. He taught him to read, write and later helped him enroll in Bible school to learn more about sharing his faith in Jesus Christ.
In 1965, Stephen began to share his amazing testimony and preach the Word of God with the Dorothea Mission throughout Africa. In 1982, Stephen met Michael Cassidy of African Enterprise and was invited to join the AE Team in Zimbabwe.
Today Stephen serves as the Senior Team Leader based in Lilongwe, Malawi. He travels the world preaching to thousands of people about racial reconciliation, forgiveness and God's amazing grace. He and his wife, Rachel, also serve as marriage counselors.
